Ofcom report: Availability of Communications Services

Ofcom published a report in May 3013 examining how and why the availability of communications services varies across the UK, and how it could be improved. They considered the availability of seven communications services: fixed voice, fixed broadband, mobile voice, mobile broadband, digital television, radio and post.

On 2 July, Ofcom hosted a meeting in Dumfries to highlight the main findings of the report as they affect Dumfries and Galloway.  There were presentations from the South of Scotland Broadband Team on the Local Broadband Plan and from Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Bureau.

The following speakers gave presentations:

  • Introductions and setting the scene - Vicki Nash, Ofcom
  • Overview - Communications; The South of Scotland picture - Brian Collins,D&G Council
